How To Group Your Product Recommendations For A Better Customer Experience

Sometimes when you recommend a set of different products to customers you want to categorize them for a better customer experience. 

Different use cases for this can include: 

• Offering a routine for your products  – Like a skincare brand could have a cleanser, moisturizer, and serum in their routine)
• Grouping products by use case – For example, a vitamin brand can categorize recommendations based on vitamins to take in the morning, afternoon, and evening)
• Upsell and cross sell – You can offer additional products that are ideal for good complementary products to upsell or cross sell. 

How Grouped Recommendations Work

The Grouped Recommendations will take whatever products have been recommended during the quiz, and categorize them in the Groups that you create. 

After you set up your Product Recommendations (documentation found here), you can select the products that you wish to show in each Recommendation Group. 

In this group, you can specify: 

• Title – What you want to call this group of recommendations (ie Bags and Belts in the image above)
• Description – Additional text to add detail to the Grouped Recommendation 
• Max Products per Group – The maximum number of products you wish to include in the group, can be between 1 and 3 products
• The Products allowed in a group – The specific SKUs that you wish to include in the recommendation, which you will select from your inventory. 

Note: You can create up to 4 groups, with 3 recommended products per group.

How to Create a Grouped Recommendation 

1. Create a “Product Recommendation” ending: 

The Recommendation Groups can be found in the Groups tab of your Product Recommendation settings, here:

You can build the logic for creating product recommendations by following these steps here. 

2. Choose Your Groupings

After you determine how many different product groupings you wish to have, you can create each grouping. You can fill out the Title, Description, Max products per group, and the products to include in the group. 

3. Add The Products That You Want Grouped Together

You determine exactly which products can be shown in each Group. 

You can select the products by clicking on the “Products allowed in group” box here: 

And select each product from your inventory:

4.  Review and Test Your Grouped Recommendations

Now that you have built your quiz and Grouped Product Recommendations, you will want to go through the quiz to ensure that everything works as intended.
