Weighted scoring is a great way to give more importance to certain products in the recommendation process.

By default, all products that are “Included” in a recommendation are given one point in the voting recommendation score.

But with Weighted Scoring, it is possible to give different values to different responses, or different questions.

If you choose to have a Product Recommendation ending, you will see the weighted scoring in the Recommendation settings:

An Example Use Case

Adding more value to certain quiz responses is helpful in ensuring that you guide shoppers to the best product possible.

You do this by adding more “weight” to the recommendation.

For example, suppose you are a clothing brand, and you have a new line of jackets that you’d like to promote and sell.

If a shopper expresses any interest in a jacket, then you can increase the “Weight” for the Jacket, to ensure a greater likelihood that it will be a recommended product at the end.

Additional use cases:

  • Increase the Weight for questions that are more important to your product recommendation
  • Increase the Weight for specific products that you wish to appear as a product recommendation
  • Add a very large number to the Weight of any product that you want to appear at the end. Thus, if a customer selects a product that has a very high weight (say 100), then it will certainly appear at the end (as long as it isn’t Excluded).
